When Paul told Timothy to "flee these things" he was referring to verses 4-5 where he said "4 He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, 5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself."
There will always be those who seek to pervert the Gospel and even the cause of Christ for their own pride and purposes. "But thou, O man of God, flee these things"
Let us indeed "follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness."
May we simple seek after Christ not the Culture, the Saviour not the secular, Godliness and greediness.
